On December 5th, the Retired Teachers of Ontario District 17, Unit 1, attended a Barrie Colts hockey game at the Sadlon Arena. Despite a snowy evening, the arena was buzzing with excitement, the air filled with the scent of freshly popped popcorn. Though the Flint Firebirds came out strong, leading the first period, the highly-ranked Colts didn’t disappoint. After the Firebirds lost momentum due to two costly penalties, the Colts tied the game and then seized the lead as they headed into the third period. The game had it all—fast skating, a first goal for a new Colt, some roughing, Charlie handing out prizes, and even two pucks on the ice at one point! All in all, it was a fun and entertaining evening for RTO members, with plenty of action to keep everyone on the edge of their seats.
